This webinar will cover definitions of ADs, emphasize the importance of ADs in health care, address the barriers to implementation, and provide an understanding of the provider’s responsibility in attempting to take efforts to implement ADs.
Cases will be presented for emphasis and interaction.
Understand the definition of Advance Directives, including living will and health care proxy; understand the means to implement an AD
Develop an understanding of the barriers to implementing ADs.
Present data from studies for illustration and emphasis
Understand the term Capacity and the importance of determining patient capacity
Illustrate the dilemmas imposed in the setting of a patient without capacity presenting with and without advance directives, through case illustrations.
At the end of the presentation, providers are expected to become aware of their responsibility in taking efforts to implement ADs
