Who should attend? What will be covered?
  • RNs working in any setting caring for a majority of patients 60 years and older who are seriously considering ANCC Certification in Gerontological Nursing. Learn eligibility requirements, application must-knows, and planning a strategy to prepare for the exam.
  • Nursing Faculty, students, and practicing nurses interested in submitting an abstract to Building Partnerships for Geriatric Care,, April 19-20 in San Antonio, the Summer Institute on Evidence-Based Quality Improvement, July 17-21 in San Antonio, and the NGNA Annual Convention in Baltimore, MD,Oct 4-6. This is a workshop and a “hands-on” session. No continuing education credit awarded.

Facilitators:
Susan L. Carlson, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC, GNP-BC. Susan holds ANCC certification as both a clinical nurse specialist and a gerontological nurse practitioner. She has been a course director for certification review courses in Adult Nursing and Gerontological Nursing. She has presented locally and nationally on clinical and professional topics. Susan is the immediate past president of NGNA and serves as the SWT-NGNA, Program Planning Coordinator.

Mary Mather, MSN, RN, CNL. Mary is certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader and has worked in long term care and geriatric ambulatory care settings in community settings and at the Veterans Healthcare System. She has presented posters and concurrent
sessions at the local, regional, and national level. Mary is the current president of the Southwest Texas Chapter of the NGNA.
