Gerontological Nursing Student Leadership Award

Eligibility

  • Graduate—Eligible applicants include graduate nursing students with a major focus in gerontology/geriatric nursing who are enrolled in a U.S. accredited graduate school of nursing and registered for a minimum of six credits during the semester in which the NGNA annual convention to which the student applied is held.
  • Undergraduate—Eligible applicants include full-time or part-time nursing students enrolled in a U.S. accredited school of nursing. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in a future career in gerontological nursing.
A total of three registrations will be awarded to either graduate and/or undergraduate students ($160 will be applied to the cost of registration for each student awardee) to attend the upcoming NGNA convention.

Application Instructions

  1. Download the Gerontological Nursing Student Leadership Award Application
  2. Applications must be submitted to the NGNA National Office by June 1, 2012.
  3. Complete applications include the following:
    1. One letter of recommendation from a faculty member who can attest to the potential for successful completion of the nursing program and future contributions to the field of nursing care for the older adult.
    2. A statement of professional and educational goals with an emphasis on contributions the student expects to make to improve nursing care for older adults (not to exceed 250 words).

Award Procedure

  1. Three winners will be announced by July 15, 2012.
  2. Winners will be asked to attend the annual convention to accept the award. If unable to attend, the winners will be expected to write an acceptance letter that will be read at the annual convention.
Applications must be submitted to NGNA no later than June 1, 2012.
