The Meridian Health Ann May Center's 9th Annual NICHE Conference will bring together over 300 healthcare professionals from the tri-state area to discuss evidence-based care and the older adult. Nationally and regionally known speakers will present on Falls, Health Literacy, Alzheimer’s Disease, and the LGBT older adult. There is also a faculty/educator track that includes experts from the NLN Advancing Care Excellence for Seniors program and an original research presentation on nursing students attitudes towards older adults. Another much enjoyed aspect of the conference is our older adult focused quality, EBP, or research project poster presentations, showcasing not only Meridian Health team members but also colleagues from other healthcare facilities.

The Call for Abstracts opens on Monday, March 4, 2013 and closes on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 5 p.m.. Please read the Abstract Submission General Guidelines before writing your abstract.

Notifications of the review of the abstracts with further instructions will be sent to all corresponding authors on Friday, May 3, 2013.

We look forward to receiving your abstract(s) and a day of networking and learning as we improve care of the older adults we serve. (Registration will be open with the next few weeks).

Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing Partners with NGNA to Improve Nursing Care for Older Adults

LAUNCH OF NEW WEBINAR SERIES

The Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing (HIGN) and NGNA have joined together to launch a new webinar series to improve nursing care for older adults. The one-hour webinars will be held every month, and then archived on the Hartford Institute e-Learning center (www.hartfordign.org/Spotlight/eLearning/).

These webinars are part of a Gerontological Certification Review “Package” that builds upon the resources of HIGN and NGNA as well as provides resources to improve nursing care of older for all practicing nurses and educators. The webinars, presented by expert faculty from NGNA and HIGN, will present clinical topics relevant to improving the delivery of healthcare to older adults, covering topics such as patient- and family-centered care approach to delirium, fall prevention, medication management, diabetes management . Partners of HIGN and members of NGNA will be able to access these webinars and other resources developed by the Hartford Institute, including the Geronotological Nursing Certification Review Course and other online learning modules, at discounted rates.
