The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Division of Nursing (DN) is pleased to announce the publication of a special Public Health Reports (PHR) supplement entitled “Nursing in 3D: Workforce Diversity, Health Disparities, and Social Determinants of Health.” The supplement aims to increase understanding of the potential impact of linking nursing workforce diversity, health disparities, and the social determinants of health. The articles featured in the supplement advance scholarly inquiry around the intersecting goals of increased workforce diversity, fair and equal access to quality health care and health care resources, elimination of health disparities, and achieving health equity.
Achieving health equity for all requires a collective effort across all disciplines and all sectors (including those outside of health care). Therefore the supplement takes a cross-disciplinary approach to examining efforts and work underway to address health disparities and health equity specifically within the context of the social determinants of health. The supplement provides stakeholders (including key federal staff) an opportunity to see how programs can incorporate workforce diversity, health disparities, and the social determinants of health.
